Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Episode 5. Queen of Thunder (3)
The biggest hall of the guild house, located on the third floor, was the place given to the Devil Hunter attack unit. It was a huge space for three people, but we were planning to recruit people one by one. When I was done, this space would be small for us. There was no furniture, but in the empty hall, there was a strange tension that was filling up the whole space.
The manager, magician of water Lee Jihye, and the new member, Yoo Eunhye, were standing against each other, creating tension. They looked serious; it seemed like something had happened.
I asked them, “What is going on?”
Lee Jihye didn’t realize I was there until she heard my voice and told me, “Unit leader. Please deal with her.”
“Jihye. It was a pure mistake. It was out of my control.”
“Do you kill people by mistake, huh?”
“Sorry, but you didn’t die!”
It was quite an interesting conversation. Lee Jihye was extremely angry, while Yoo Eunhye looked like she was under a false accusation.
I was looking at both and finally understood. Lee Jihye’s hair smelled burned, and it was not difficult for me to deduce why. ‘It’s because of Yoo Eunhye’s passive skill.’ Yoo Eunhye was called the Queen of Thunder in my former life. She had a babyface, and she looked almost like a student. She was cute with her short hair and playful eyes, but she was having a hard time with her passive skill that she was yet to master controlling.
I activated my Mind’s Eye and had a look at her status window.
Name: Yoo Eunhye
Occupation: Warrior(Magician of Thunder)
Title: Stroke by thunder ten times(R, Mana+4)
Abilities :
Power 20, Intelligence 44, Speed 15, Strength 14, Mana 45(+4)
Potential(138/423)
Others: Blessed and protected by the thunder fairy. Due to numerous strikes by thunder, her energy flow has been complicated and mixed.
Skills: Lightning Bolt(N), Electric Current(N, Passive)
It was a really strange status window for sure.
She had great Potential. I’ve never seen anyone with such high Potential. The guild master of Danbi, Arin, also had high Potential, but Eunhye’s Potential was outstanding. The only problem was that she was blessed and protected by the thunder fairy.
Because of the influence of the thunder fairy, her body was working as a lightning conductor. When there was lightning, she was the one who got it. Her nickname came from that as well.
I’m sure it was not an easy thing for her to handle. Her energy flow was flawless, so nothing bad was left in her system. It was an extraordinary talent that nobody else could even come near but… ‘The Electric Current is the passive skill that gives her trouble.’
The power of Electric Current was wandering inside her body until now, so the electricity came out from her body without her knowing it. I was sure that Lee Jihye’s hair was burnt because of that.
“Don’t come closer. If you come one step closer, I will hit you!” Lee Jihye warned her. She was being very patient not hitting the girl who burned her hair right in front of her.
Yoo Eunhye looked like she was about to cry. “Your hair was so beautiful, so I touched it without realizing what I was doing it. My passive skill was activated by accident. I’m sorry. We both have ‘hye’ in our names; we are like sisters. Please, I will never do that again.”
Lee Jihye, Yoo Eunhye. They both had ‘hye’ at the end of their names for sure.
Some people would forgive a mistake when it was a pure accident, but Lee Jihye was definitely not one of those forgiving people. “I don’t have a sister like you. What kind of sister would burn her sister’s hair like you did?”
“I’m sure there are if we look into history, don’t you think? No, no, it was a joke. Please don’t get mad at me…. I know I’m not very funny. Please, sorry Jihye. I’m really sorry!”
“You…”
“Stop.” I stopped them with my low voice, quietly. “I didn’t recruit you guys to have some emotional conflict.”
Lee Jihye was making her lips pointy, looking at her burnt hair that had become curly. “But…”
“I said stop.” I was firm and strict. Now that we officially started Devil Hunter attack unit, I had to set the rules and show authority. I was the leader of the unit, while Lee Jihye and Yoo Eunhye were just members.
When it became serious, Lee Jihye stopped complaining. I said, “You are the one and only manager of Devil Hunter attack unit. Your job is to check the status of the members and organize our schedule. You need to take care of a lot of different things, so don’t disappoint me now.”
“I apologize.” Lee Jihye looked down.
At first, she was a bit confused, but as soon as she joined the Guild of Heaven’s Will, she realized a lot of things. Especially that the guy standing in front of her was a person that even the guild master was obeying. There was something about him although she wasn’t sure what that was yet.
He was rather rude, but he also had an absolute charisma that attracted people. When the man said something, she didn’t feel like refusing or questioning. She always felt like she had to follow his order no matter what.
She’d never encountered such a man before, and that man had appointed her to take an important role in his team. She couldn’t disappoint him in any way.
‘I told her once, I’m sure it was enough.’ If I tried to restrain humans too hard, they tended to try to escape. Moreover, Lee Jihye was a wise girl. I knew I didn’t have to repeat myself.
I picked up a small bottle of portion and threw it to Lee Jihye. “Take it. It will take care of the problem with your hair.”
Lee Jihye took the bottle and asked with wondering eyes, “What is this?”
“This is a portion that I got from the dungeon. It is much better and more effective than the Core powder.”
“Oh…” Lee Jihye looked like she was punched in the face because Core powder couldn’t revive dead cells. If it was a treasure that was found in the dungeon, that was different. Lee Jihye almost freaked out and told me, “I… I can’t take this. If this is from the dungeon, I’m sure it is a priceless treasure…”
“If so, just throw it away.”
“Huh?”
“Throw it away. I don’t need it anyway.” My body was strong, and that kind of low-level potion wouldn’t be very useful anyway. Regular attacks couldn’t harm me at all, and to cure my body, I would need a much higher-level potion.
Lee Jihye teared up as if she was really impressed by my generosity. “Thank… thank you. I will cherish it.”
I was shaking my head inside. I couldn’t understand why she was making such a fuss over some burnt hair. Hair was something very precious for girls. Long straight hair seemed to be a high maintenance possession for them. Maybe it came right after their life, or maybe it was more important. I tried to understand the reaction of Lee Jihye.
“Well, unit leader.” Yoo Eunhye was looking at us and talked to me.
“…?”
“What should I do here? Cleaning? Laundry?”
“Why in the hell would you do that?”
“Because…aren’t those the job for the newcomers?”
“No need. I can hire people for that.” I had no intention of using my important force for some meaningless things.
When I told her she didn’t have to do cleaning, Yoo Eunhye asked me with a bit of confusion, “Then, what do you want me to do? Oh, right! I can massage your shoulder. I am a very good masseuse; you might become addicted.”
Well, if her passive skill activated during the massage, that would be a disaster. I knew she meant well, but I thought she was very similar to Lyhee.
Maybe Lyhee wouldn’t agree and might get mad at my comment but well, they were not that different. “I guess you don’t get it. Do you think I took you to use you for some useless work?”
Yoo Eunhye looked disappointed and soon she asked me the question that she wanted to ask me until now. “I honestly don’t understand. Do you know my nickname? Human lightning conductor. I’ve struck by lightning more than anyone in this world. Also, I have a strange electric current flowing in my body. I am not the most helpful person to have in a team, yet you took me in. I know I am good-looking, but I don’t think you took me under you for that, so I wanted to ask you why.”
Yoo Eunhye was doing all the small works in the guild house and had suddenly become a member of the Devil Hunter attack unit. That was three days ago, and since then, she had been wondering why she became a team member.
“You have no self-confidence.”
“To be frank with you, you are right. Sometimes I feel like looks are the only thing I have, and I’m just useless.”
“You are great. I have a lot of expectations for you.”
“Expectations…?”
“Yes. I think you are the best in the Guild of Heaven’s Will.”
“Hehe…stop flattering me. Although this feels great. I never really had any compliments like that. I’m sorry, I know I will disappoint you.” Yoo Eunhye laughed in a high pitch. She was never a smart one, so naturally, nobody had any expectations for her. She was always scared of everything, and she knew that she was not very smart. Since she was young, people told her being pretty was her only good quality.
She was struck by lightning way too often, so she went to a shaman, and the shaman told her that ‘you’ve done a lot of bad things in your former life, that’s why this is happening. So you should do good deeds in this life,’ and then asked for a fortune for that advice.
Even her family and relatives thought she was a burden. When she became an awakened hero, Yoo Eunhye was so happy to have something to call a talent. But her passive skill put her back into despair again.
‘This is serious.’ If Yoo Eunhye was a useless person, then most human beings were less than rubbish. Maybe she was yet to bloom, but I had to fix her mindset. ‘I should keep her busy and exhausted,” I decided.
She had no self-esteem because she simply had too much time to think. When you are busy and exhausted, you have no time to think about despair or anything else. Moreover, Yoo Eunhye had potential as a magician and also as a warrior. For now, all her abilities were concentrated on her Intelligence and Mana, but if I trained her properly, she would become a strong warrior.
The flawless flow of energy! I learned about it while fighting against some strong warriors, and I had to experience the power of it. It was incredible in many ways. It would be a waste to let her not use such talent. In her former life, Yoo Eunhye didn’t know anything about her talent. She’d become a magician and didn’t develop other great potentials at all.
I had no plan to let her live like that. Not using a talent was a sin. I had already decided that I would train Yoo Eunhye as a magical swordsman, riding the thunder. To do that, I needed to train her to improve her physical abilities. Her current abilities were imbalanced.
“Follow me; let’s start our training.” I walked out of the hall.
